NFPA will fast-track new standard to address active shooter events, other violent incidents

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is fast-tracking the development of a new standard to address active shooter events and other violent incidents. The rule — tentatively called NFPA 3000, Standard for Preparedness and Response to Active Shooter and/or Hostile Events — is being hashed out at NFPA headquarters in Quincy, Massachusetts, and was expected to be completed in draft form by early 2018.
